OLIVIA WALSH
CO-FOUNDER AND CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER, APPLE TREE – UNITED KINGDOM
Olivia Walsh knew early on that she wanted to see the world. At the age of 16, thanks to a scholarship to pursue her studies in Argentina, she encountered Spanish as a language for the first time. Upon returning to her native San Francisco, another scholarship gave her the chance to study at the University of Seattle, where she studied International Studies with a focus on Marketing.
After a variety of professional experiences in the USA and a brief spell in production, she moved to Barcelona where she helped start the first English-speaking radio program produced in Barcelona.
In 1998, she joined the team of Cluster Consulting to lead their employer branding team. From there, she went on to Marketing to become the EULA manager of Branding. In 2000, Cluster was successfully sold to the American firm Diamond Technology Partners. Olivia was responsible for promoting the new brand DiamondCluster, becoming the Branding Director for Europe and Latin America at just 24 years of age.
Shortly afterwards, Olivia co-founded apple tree communications together with Carme Miró and Kirsty Brown, whom she had encountered at Cluster. Today, apple tree boasts over 140 workers in Barcelona, Bogotá, London, Madrid and Mexico city, working for leading brands the world over such as Nike, LEGO, McDonald’s, Mobile World Congress, Radisson Hotel Group and Novartis.
Olivia continues to travel the world maintaining relationships forged throughout the years with large media groups and communications agencies (CNN, Telemundo and Univision, among others) and investigating the latest news and trends tirelessly. She has held a seat on the board of the Club de Creativos de España and the San Francisco-Barcelona Sister City Committee, and has participated on the jury on numerous occasions for the prestigious ASPID and FIBRA awards. This year she has been chosen as President for the ASPID awards.
